Neurologic Consultation

The neurologic consultation pathway is a comprehensive evaluation over one to two visits to help diagnose, provide a second opinion or suggestions for further testing or treatment. What you want out of our visit decides how we spend our time together.

Neurologic Consultation

Step 1 - Your complimentary 20” call

We use this time for me to learn about your background, what you’re looking for, what I offer and if we are the right fit. We then schedule your first visit and have you fill out a comprehensive intake questionnaire.  You have any prior records made available for my review.

Step 2 - Neurologic Consultation visit

We spend our 75”+ visit focused on what is important to you.

Looking to clarify a diagnosis or get a second opinion?

I’ll dedicate most of our time to reviewing your symptoms, exam and any prior testing or evaluation and aim to give you my assessment and recommendations by the end of our visit. The nervous system is too complex to view in isolation so we will always aim to understand your diagnosis from a whole body, whole systems functional approach. With over 25 years of working within the Rochester medical community I have developed an extensive network of medical colleagues I trust and can facilitate referral if ongoing specialist neurology care is indicated.

Frustrated and looking for treatment options?

After reviewing your diagnosis we will focus on your current symptoms, how they affect you day to day and what you’ve tried before, any benefits or side effects. This will likely include a review of “lifestyle” factors such as exercise, sleep, nutritional intake, environmental exposures, stress and trauma. I’ll provide you with detailed recommendations of potential further treatment options as well as a step by step plan to implement them with your primary care doctor.

Wondering if there’s more than just prescription medications that can help?

It’s hard to know what “alternative therapies” are helpful, what’s a waste of time or money or where to seek reliable care. Although Healthspan Neurology is grounded in a medical science model curiosity has led to my training in integrative, functional, lifestyle medicine, mind-body medicine, and medical acupuncture. This allows me to understand how these modalities work and when they may be appropriate complementary (or even primary) treatments for patients. I have also developed a network of colleagues I trust and can facilitate referral to.
